Fred Iversen, project participant and responsible for
user support:
"I fully recognize the story told in this article and I think it
gives a fairly good description of the project. This yields both the description
of what really happened and the given explanations on why it turned out
this way.
However, talking to several of my fellow politicians, I realize that
there is a feeling that the experiment was too short. Since it took more
than a year to overcome all the technical difficulties, we were left with
only half a year to concentrate fully on the usage of the system. Thus we
were not able to establish and try out routines within the party groups
to the extent we wanted to. I therefore think that we have only just started
the process of putting POT to work and not by far unveiled the whole potential
for this system.
I also think there are several ways this project could be taken further
both in terms of user groups and applications. The POT system would be perfect
for connecting local politicians with politicians in other municipalities
or on the regional or national level. Combined with the Internet, this would
give access to a whole range of applications and information sources relevant
to the politician." |
